There are different grades of human hair used within the hair extension/replacement industry with Chinese & Chinese Remy hair being the most common type of hair found in use today in the International Hair Extensions Market. You will Not find this Chinese hair available in a Certified Salon or Hair Extension Technician offering Professional Salon Certified Hair Extension Systems or Virgin & Remy Hair.
The reason for this popularity of Chinese and non Remy Hair is simple - it's readily available in large quantities and cheap to buy. However Chinese hair is often very thick and coarse and unsuitable for european hair. In order to reduce the thickness and give it a softer and finer texture many hair companies expose the hair to an aggressive acid treatment to strip the cuticle layer. This chemical treatment destroys the cuticle layer, leaving the hair opaque and fragile. The hair is then coloured and covered with a silicone layer which gives it a simulated healthy look. In the beginning the hair seems shiny and beautiful, but after a few washes the silicone layer starts to wash away and the colour fades leaving the hair with a dull matt dry appearance which looks like horses hair...the hair then starts to tangle swell and matt and can cause serious problems resulting in the wearer to have to have their hair cut short to remove the matting and cases of traction alopecia.
Because of this reason we never use Chinese hair or Glue and instead only use the finest quality Russian, European Virgin and Remy hair.
Russian, European Virgin and Remy hair are all types of human hair which retain their cuticle (outer layer) and are specially processed to ensure all the cuticles are facing the same direction from root to end.
